Privacy Policy

Pit Captain is an AI driving coach for Gran Turismo 7, operated by Pit Captain, LLC ("Pit Captain", "we", "us"). This policy explains what the app accesses, what leaves your device, and your choices. Plain language, no surprises.

What the app accesses

• Your local network. The app reads the Gran Turismo 7 telemetry your PlayStation broadcasts on your home Wi‑Fi. Your PlayStation's IP address is used only to receive that stream and stays on your device.
• Race telemetry. While a session is running, the app sends the GT7 telemetry stream to the Pit Captain cloud so we can coach you while you drive.
• Your account. You sign in with Apple. Apple gives us a stable account identifier and, the first time you sign in, the name and email address you choose to share (which may be a private relay address). We store these with your account. You may optionally connect a Discord account, which gives us your Discord user ID.
• What you tell the app. Your driver profile (name and country), your app and coaching preferences, the cars you set up and their details, and any feedback you send us.

Microphone & voice

• Only when you're using it. While a coaching session is running with voice turned on, the app listens for a wake phrase so you can ask questions hands‑free, including with your phone locked. Elsewhere in the app, the microphone listens only after you tap it, until your question ends. Turning voice off, ending the session, or turning off the microphone stops it.
• Transcribed on your device. Your speech is turned into text on your phone by Apple's on‑device speech recognition. Only the text of your question is sent to answer it. Your voice audio never leaves your phone and is not stored.

Photos

• Only the screenshots you pick. You can add in‑game screenshots of a car through the system photo picker. The app has no access to the rest of your photo library.
• Read on your device. The screenshots are read on your phone. Only the car details read from them are sent to your account. The images themselves are never uploaded.
• Pictures stay on your phone. Any car picture made from a screenshot, and any profile photo you choose, is kept only on your phone.

What we do with it

• We use your telemetry, laps and car details to coach you, answer your questions, and show your lap times and progress. This is stored so the app works across sessions.
• Crash reports. If the app crashes or freezes, Apple's report of it — which part of the app was running, the app and iOS version, the device model, and no personal content — is sent to our server so we can fix the bug.
• We do not sell your data, show ads, or use advertising or analytics trackers.

What we do NOT do

• We do not access your camera, contacts or location.
• We do not record or store your voice, and we don't upload your photos.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not send your PlayStation's IP address outside your own network.

Beta sign‑ups

If you request beta access on our website, we store the name, email and details you submit solely to send you a TestFlight invitation and related beta communication. We don't sell or share it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time using the contact below.

Service providers

We use these providers to run Pit Captain. They process data only to provide their service to us.

• Cloud hosting: hosts our servers and database, including its backups.
• Database: stores your profile and preferences.
• AI text generation: writes coaching and answers from your laps, telemetry summaries, car details and the text of your questions. No audio is sent.
• Text‑to‑speech: turns the coach's written lines into speech.
• Apple provides Sign in with Apple and TestFlight, under Apple's privacy policy.
• Discord, if you connect it, plays your coach's voice in a Discord voice channel and checks your community membership, under Discord's privacy policy.

Pit Captain is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Polyphony Digital, or Gran Turismo.

Data retention & deletion

Your cloud data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account and all of its cloud data from within the app: Settings › Account › Delete account (or tap your picture at the top right). Deleted data is gone from our live database immediately and from our backups within 3 days. You can also contact us to request a copy or deletion of your data.

Children

Pit Captain is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be noted with a new "Last updated" date.
